Subject: Sanctuary needs help PLEASE READ

Hey folks, please do not return email to anyone on this list. If you can assist let me know, if you want to send off to others, please cut and paste the add to send to others.  Many of you are my dear friends, a few of you are people on my rescue list..............please see if you can assist in any way

Lots going on here and I need your help. I have lost 4 of my people here recently to personal problems and family illness.  I brought on 2 more ....but not rescue savvy, or able to help with much...I give them a place to live, but their help is minimal.  I am in a crisis;.................I herniated 2 discs in my low back and have been in more pain than I thought imaginable!  Pain pills will not kick it much and I sometimes pass out from the pain.

I am sending out a message to get help here ASAP, but it could not come too soon and if this disc is not better, I will be in a wheel chair.............actually I am part of the time now........surgery is only 30% effective, so I am not too open to that, and the pain has made me pass out and had me taken to the hospital in an ambulance so far.  It is not improving.  There is a new therapy,but would require me to be gone most of the day for 4-5 days a week, and that is not workable without someone here.

It is scary to be so alone with so much responsibility. I need your help.

Dr. Karen

This is from an email being crossposted recently. It seems to be a sort of e-flyer that Karen has been sending aorund

Sanctuary located in Northern Alabama is in need;        May 26, 2009

We need some immediate volunteer help, and more, read on;

We have had lots of a changes, several staff members leaving due to family illnesses and personal problems.......and our Director has herniated 2 discs in her low back.  Thus we are very short staffed and are requesting help from the rescue community.

We need two things:

1-A rescue savvy person or crew for volunteer time between now and the end of September.

We will provide a cozy place to live, with all the amenities of home, and you will help with basic chores and socialization of the dogs. This may include trips to the Vet using our vehicles. We have a nice clean facility on 10 acres of beautiful land. Our dogs are housed in multiple areas with great homes, not dog houses, and some have inside living arrangements. We have a hospital on the grounds.

2-A full time position; We will be bringing someone or a couple on board October 2009. We will be providing a new home, all utilities, wireless Internet, cable, phone, storage, and a stipend in exchange for full time work at the sanctuary.  We are taking resumes now.  Volunteers that assist in this interim will be given higher priority in that process.

Please call Dr. Karen Johnson @ 256-874-1162 for either position.

Resume should include reasons why you want the job, why you would be a great choice and a statement of your commitment to animal rescue.

Resumes can be sent to meDCtoo@aol.com  with the following in the subject: Resume for JOB.

Rescue Watchdogs is working closely with concerned rescuers, trying to sort out the fact from fiction and trying to find out more about Dr. Karen and LFAS. As always, we will do what we can to verify whatever reports we get, but we will also pass on reports we feel are important, even if they are not yet verified. We may also post documents, comments, and opinions voiced by those involved in dealing with this mess, without verifying them. When we do this, we will clearly identify these as the comments and opinions of others. We will require all items posted to be properly attributed, and will either identify the source or will list them as "name withheld on request" if that is what the author wishes. In any case, we will keep their identities on file here and make them available to law enforcement if requested.
