Update 4/27/04 - We've had Petey for about 1^1/2 weeks now. He has not shown us any of the behavioral problems we were warned about. He is an easy going, pretty calm guy. Very loving and affectionate. Wants to learn and be a good boy from what I can see. He gets to whining a bit when you leave the room and wants to go with you. He'll jump the kiddy gate to stay with me sometimes. He did fine in a wire crate and has been fine with all the other dogs. In fact he loves playing with them and even sleeping cuddled up with them. At first he was not eating, but we felt he was holding out for goodies so we just stuck to our feeding program. Now he is diving into his food and eating it all. He does tend to be a tiny bit protective of his food with other dogs, but not objectionably so. We really haven't seen any significant problems with him. And he is such an affectionate guy. He is way underweight and we hope he'll start to fatten up now that he is eating regularly. We are going to work on his training, to teach him some alternate signs that are a bit more useful, and to get him a little more reliable.
