- Temperament
- He has a wonderful steady temperament. You can take him anywhere. He
gets along with other dogs and is crate trained. He rides in the car
very well and really just wants to be with his person.
This
is a very sad story, poor Jethro was abandoned in a shelter parking
lot. He was extremely emaciated and only weighed 87 pounds. He was
transfered from the shelter to another rescue who spent lots of time,
love and money getting Jethro healthy. He now weighs in at over 132 lb
and looks great. Sadly the other Dane he was found with, who was even
thinner, did not make it. Jethro is deaf and his tail had been
previously broken and never cared for, so it has a jaunty kink in it.
He has a wonderful steady temperament. You can take him
anywhere. He gets along with other dogs and is crate trained. He rides
in the car very well and really just wants to be with his person. He
had no manners at all when the first rescue got him but they worked
with him and he has come a long ways. He still has his moments, especially when
being lead by the collar or leash, almost as if he had been dragged or
abused at some point. But if you are calm and steady and do not give
into his attempts to pull away, he quickly gives up and comes along
quietly. He has come a long way toward learning what is right and
wrong. He clearly wants to please, though he is sometimes scared and
will run away when you call him. He is probably about 3 years old. He
will not be placed in a home with intact animals especially other male
dogs, as he has show some aggression towards some intact males.
We want to give a BIG thank you to Kelly at K9Wrinkles. She did a great
job with Jethro. Without her, this big sweet boy probably wouldn't even
be here. I know she was very attached to him and it took a lot for her
to turn him over to anyone. We appreciate that and are honored that she
was willing to let him come to us. Now all we need to do is find him
that perfect home. With all the work Kelly did, that should be easy.
The photos here are from when Jethro was still underweight. We will add
some updated photos in the next week or so.
We will post additional photos of Jethro as time goes by, so check
back often.
