We got Drake, and his buddy Raisin, from a fellow rescuer. She was going through a divorce and could not keep her dogs. He was 10 weeks old when she got him from a breeder who had  a history of producing deaf pups. He is deaf, and he does have some vision impairment, mostly at distances over 30 feet. He is a happy easy going dog, but sometimes he can be a bit standoffish with new people. He is a huge lover, and by that I mean he is a very lovey dog, and a big dog. He stands about 38-39 inches at the shoulder. He seems very healthy. He gets along well with other dogs but does not do well with dogs that invade his space, such as our deaf and blind dogs. Mostly he is pretty laid back, but he does have his wild and crazy moments. He loves to go on trips, though he can sometimes get a bit stressed by new places odly enough. Here's what the rescuer we got him from had to say about him.

"Drake was neutered at around 6 months old.  At around 8 months old he was huge and still trying to play with the dachshunds, so I decided to look for a buddy his own size to adopt.  I wasn't necessarily looking for a Dane, just sort of looking on Petfinder and Craigslist for a large playful dog, and I found an ad for another 8 month old Dane named Raiden.  His mom was in the military and being deployed so she was looking for a new home for him.  I took Drake over to meet him and they were instant buddies...zoomies all over the house and yard.

Drake can get a sunburn on the top of his nose, so you do have to watch leaving him out in the yard too long. Especially since he loves to sleep outside in the sun. He also loves to play in the yard. He loves big toys like footballs and the big TireBiter brand dog toys. He can destroy them pretty quickly, but he sure loves playing with them. He's get a toy in his mouth and run all over the yard playing keep away with you, or Raisin. And if no one chases him, he'll just start tossing the toy in the air and then chasing it down himself. When he gets bored with that, he'll lay down and commence to chewing, which is how he manages to really tear through his toys.

In most ways Drake is a classic big sweet Dane. He backs up to sit in your lap if you're sitting. Leans all over you when you're standing around, and just loves his time with his people. He just can take time to warm up to some folks. But once he does, he's your best buddy, forever.

We will post additional photos of  Drake as time goes by, so check back often.
