Stevie and I are so happy. We are approaching on one full week together and he is settling in well. It is amazing how much we have bonded in such a short period of time, and couldn't imagine my life without him now. He is such a lover! He follows me from room to room and makes sure to that he has a part in everything I'm doing... which is alright by me. Better he like me and be in everything than unhappy.

I have adjusted well to sharing my bed (it's called the little tiny corner in the top right that he never seems to gravitate to!) We will see how well him and my fiance adjust to sharing the rest of the bed next time he is in town! haha. Not to mention sharing everything else. Who knew you never needed a dishwasher... just a dog big enough to get his head in the sink and lick your plates clean for you.

Even my 8 month old kitty is getting used to having the big lug trample her. She is still a bit hesitant (not that I can blame her) but she is so curious to see what kind of creature he is she can't contain herself. They even tried playing this morning... better luck next time.

I can't express how happy I am to be part of such an amazing group. Give me a few more months and a bigger house and I will very well be a repeat adopter!

Stevie is deaf and blind. The folks that surrendered him to us weren't prepared for raising a deaf and blind Dane, and felt it would be best for him if they surrendered him to us. Little Stevie may be deaf and blind, but someone forgot to tell him that. Stevie is outgoing, inquisitive, and lives life at full throttle. He is also pretty much fearless (though sometimes around strangers, sudden contact with his face can startle him). He is loving, smart (has already learned the sit and down commands), and totally into people. He does tend to have issues being locked away from you, but given how he has been bounced around and his being blind and deaf, this is not all that surprising. If left loose in the house, he is just fine, and he is not destructive or anything. He is housebroken and has not had any potty accidents. He plays well with other dogs, and is amazingly well adapted. He is the least handicapped dog you will ever meet. He will make someone very happy, he has a ton of love to give and can do anything a seeing/hearing dog can do. He is an amazing dog. His sense of smell is uncanny, and there is no way to hide from him as you can see in the video below.

This boy is absolutely amazing. He is completely blind and deaf....
yet he can find where you are standing.

I am standing upwind of him. Stevie scans side to side, sniffing the air and the ground trying to pick up my scent (Yes, I took a shower). I am walking backwards to move farther and farther away from him. Then, ooops, he runs into a couple of dogs. He then goes back to the point where he started and starts again. Within moments he picks up on my scent and make a bee-line straight to me.
