  • Temperament - Caliber is great with other dogs, however he is very touchy and tends to not allow personal space for dogs who do not like contact. He is used to being part of a pack and sleeping with, climbing on, and playing with other dogs, so he would do best with a dog who likes lots of physical contact.

Caliber came to us from one of our adopters. They had gotten caliber as a 2nd dog, but he was not learning to give their first dog her personal space, and she was not comfortable with his intrusions. He has had the same exact problem here with a couple of dogs and it is taking him a long time to learn this concept on dogs not wanting his attentions and close proximity. He tends to jump on and climb on dogs anytime he feels like it, and without respect for which dog it is. Some dogs are fine with this, some aren't, and he has issues telling the difference. Other than that, he is great with other dogs, both bigger and smaller than him, He plays well, is careful not to get too rough and stops if the other dog indicates it is done. He loves to sleep on top of other dogs. He is easy to train, pays close attention to you, is eager to please and loves attention of any sort. He is a real cuddler and will sleep in you lap if you let him. He is small, and it does not look like he is going to ever be very big. As is often the case with smaller dogs, he is higher energy as well. But he has not shown any tendency to be destructive. He would probably do best in a home that could give him lots of structured activities, such as agility. Unless he changes as he matures, he is not likely to be the typical couch potato type Dane. OTOH, he is so affectionate and adorable, with his perky looks and his RCA dog poses, that it is hard not to fall in love with the little guy.

We will post additional photos of  Caliber as time goes by, so check back often.
